#example of perl if statement
$a = 2;
print 'less than three' if $a < 3;
print "\n\n";

#example of perl if blocks
if($a < 3)
{
    print "one line\n";
    print "tow lines \n";
}

Output:
1
2
3
4
less than three

one line
tow lines
